Strengthening Trilateral Cooperation on Climate Change and Environment: Canada, Mexico, and the US

 


There is hope. where there is a will, there's a way! During the 10th North American Leaders' Summit, held in Mexico City, the leaders of Mexico, the United States, and Canada issued a joint declaration, reaffirming their commitment to innovation, equitable development, and mutually beneficial trade for inclusive economic opportunities. They pledged to enhance security, prosperity, sustainability, and inclusiveness across six pillars, including climate change and the environment. The leaders committed to achieving their respective 2030 climate goals under the Paris Agreement, aligning approaches to estimate the social cost of greenhouse gas emissions, reducing methane emissions, developing hydrogen as a clean energy source, accelerating the energy transition, and protecting biodiversity in partnership with Indigenous Peoples. Furthermore, they addressed commitments related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, regional competitiveness, migration and development, health, and regional security. The 11th North American Leaders' Summit will be hosted by Canada.
